The Oh Sh!t Bag

The Oh Sh!t Bag is probably the most important thing you can put together now that would mean the difference between life and death later.

I’m sharing with you here what we have so far for when the shit hits the fan and we must abandon our home.  We are constantly revising it; adding new things; replacing old things; and updating it when funds allow.  As we do so, I will update this page.

This is OUR list and it’s tailored for OUR environment and OUR needs.  I’m sharing it with you so you can use it as a guide.  I’m not saying that you should include everything we have or that we necessarily have everything you would need.

(This does not include our entire weapons arsenal and food supply)

THE ALICE PACK – Your bag itself is just as important as what you put in it.  Choose a high quality military grade pack like the Alice Pack.  Your gear will be useless if your bag is faulty.  An Alice Pack was designed to efficiently carry A LOT of gear over long distances.  We have a medium sized Alice Pack but they also come in small and large.  This is what the US Military used for years until they recently upgraded to Molle Packs.  This drove the price of Alice Packs way down ($30 on eBay) and they’re just as good as the newer Molle Packs.

Oh sh!t we better get some of these!

  3. i need some advice. my boyfriend and i have already made a plan but im not sure if it will work. I know its irrisponsible for a thirteen your old girl to leave her family but i think its for the best if this happens. my boyfriend is getting ready to drive soon, so i think it will help.

    • Hi Kristen,

I know it’s hard to admit but since our parents are older than we are they have a lot more life experience than we do. That’s not saying they know everything about everything but they typically do know what they’re talking about at least some of the time.

Also, they probably love you more than anyone else on this planet and would do anything to keep you safe. I’m not saying your boyfriend doesn’t or wouldn’t, but if I had to bet money on who would be more likely to sacrifice themselves for you, I’d put every last cent on your mom and dad.

All that said, I think your best plan of action is to make sure that EVERYONE you care about ends up together if/when the ZPoc happens. If you don’t think this is something they’d agree to, then come up with a covert plan on your own. Pick an easy to get to meeting spot and tell everyone that’s where you’ll be; if they love you, they’ll get there. I’d pick yours or a relatives home; somewhere you’ll be safe and that you know well.

I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen but I have a pretty good idea that if the dead rise and start trying to eat people, your parents aren’t going to turn your boyfriend away and you’ll both be glad to have some extra people around to watch your backs. Try and get his family in on the plan too because as I’ve said before, there’s safety in numbers!

      Stay safe Kristin!

      Sincerely,

      Jen @ A Girls Guide

I also have “most” of these items in our Bug out bag, however I would like to share what else I have included. My family’s bug out bags are more prepped for a Longer deployment. We are thinking when the SHTF, it will more likely be weeks rather than days. I have been obsessed with what happens if I start my period and even though we can pack tampons, what if we cant get back..I found this product called the Diva Cup. You can check it out here on this site..http://www.divacup.com/en/home/diva_cup/ this is perfect for women and their bug out bags. Just an idea that I thought I would share

  5. kb says:

instead of tampons you really should consider adding a diva cup or something similar. if you think about it tampons aren’t going to be a practical option in this environment. with the world going to shit no manufactures are going to keep your supply going.

  6. I notice where you have something to cook dinner with, but I don’t see anything resembling dinner on the list.
